The series of conversations featuring our Association came to an end on Tuesday, July 2, in a crescendo of interest and participation that, from March onwards, gradually involved more and more people. A series of events that made an important contribution to the knowledge of the ancient Nuragic civilization and, thanks to the participation of notable speakers, addressed a range of topics typically analyzed only in history and archaeology books.
To introduce the evening – the last of the series that began on March 26 – wasEmanuela Abis, a member of our Association, who presented the Unesco nomination of the monuments of the nuragic civilization, opening a conversation that, from its title, focused entirely on economic and communication themes, aimed to propose a new vision for the development of Sardinia. Emanuela Abis and Barbara Argiolas, territorial strategic consultants, indeed addressed a crucial topic for the future of our Island: “Brand ‘Isola dei nuraghi’. What has gone wrong so far?”.
Economic and territorial development, investments, management, and branding are the topics discussed byBarbara ArgiolasThe considerations were provocative: “Is the Nuragic civilization a brand? It is not. Is the Nuragic civilization today an attractor? It is not. The Nuragic civilization exists, but that is the only irrefutable fact. Everything else is in our hands, and it is still entirely to be built. The Island of the Nuraghi deserves a new narrative, but we need to share a storytelling path, understand what we want to emerge about ourselves beyond those stereotypes about Sardinia and the Sardinians that ultimately do not represent us,” said our very effective guest at ‘Sa Manifattura’, highlighting that to reach a model of development that places the Nuragic civilization at the center, every piece must be part of the same puzzle.
And it is precisely in this scenario that the work of ‘La Sardegna verso l’Unesco’ fits in, which is tasked with outlining the path so that the Nuragic heritage of Sardinia becomes that driving force for development capable of generating real and lasting growth for all of Sardinia and for future generations, in a process that, starting from the immense historical and archaeological heritage, knows how to combine environmental protection with new development opportunities.
In the meantime, after the success of this first cycle of conversations, a series of autumn events are already planned that will accompany the new social season and will inaugurate the birth of the register of “Friends of the Association” – to which we invite you to join – which will be able to constantly gather and inform the many supporters of our initiative. The definitive program of the new meetings will be full of surprises and will be ready very soon.
